Planning to have a grand reception with dancing and amazing food? If your having your wedding downtown it can be a bit of a challenge to keep your guests dancing till morning like you envisioned. It can be broken down to your play list, whether it has a lot of new or old music and it can be hard to appeal to everyone. Always keep in mind while going through your planning process the kinds of music that gets you up and moving, write down those songs and make sure to note the songs your really don’t want played at your reception. If your hiring a DJ they have an abundance of music at their disposal and it would be ideal to have a list ready for them. If there are particular songs that you really don’t want to hear because you had a weird or not so great experience that that particular song or artist triggers then let your DJ know. A lot of the time as a guest you can request songs to be played so its good to have certain one blocked and have the DJ make the excuse that they don’t have that song on file.
To make sure you and your guests get those get down and boogie songs that you all really enjoy try sending out a survey to your wedding party and other guests and ask them to name their top 5 favourite songs and build your list that way so its not just down to your and your fiance to come up with a play list on your own. It will save you both a lot of time and will appeal to your guests so much more. You have now included them in an important decision by asking for their opinion. Its a win win situation. You will get to keep the party going the whole night and enjoy yourself without having to worry about your guests.
If you plan of using your own Ipod with set play lists appoint someone to be in charge of the music for the evening so you and your fiance can enjoy the party to its fullest. Make sure you have the play lists labelled for specific times in the evening such as first dance, food music and actual dance music.
If you do plan on having a late party with lots of dancing a great idea is to also have some sort of late night snack available whether its munchies such as chips, pretzel and dips or a fruit platter or milk and cookies. That much activity for anyone can work up an appetite.
Remember to have fun,
and Happy Planning!
