The Wedding Show
I have been attending wedding shows for 6 years now and I can't tell you enough how much I truly enjoy them. You get to meet so many people, check out a lot of vendors and pick up a lot of ideas for your own big day. If you have just gotten engaged, been engaged for a while, are part of an upcoming wedding or just love weddings, like myself, then this is the place to be. This is what really sets the feeling that its all real, that your getting married or even just the possibilities that are available for your big day. There are always more vendors every year and each wedding show you discover a new business with amazing new people.
The last wedding show I went to in October I discovered 7 new businesses that I hadn't seen attend in recent years. One was a new beauty salon that had opened up and the ladies were very engaging. I am always personally wary of talking about makeup and hair or any other beauty related stuff because it was never something I learned. These ladies made me feel great and didn't make me feel like my silly questions were silly at all.
There was also quite a few new photographers, caterers and bakers, plus one table that I have never seen at the shows before. It was unique to any of the shows I have ever attended. A Counselling Professional Astrologer who had packages for bachelorette parties and couples packages to find out how and when you get along or don't. It was all very interesting and something I had never even heard of. Another reason why I enjoy these shows so much, I learn something new every time I go to them.
So if you are just starting out or are already done all the planning and are just fine tuning little details, you should go to a wedding show near you. They literally have everything. Venues for reception and ceremonies, places that would be perfect to get your wedding photos done, photographers of all backgrounds and styles, caterers that cover all special diet options, bakers that will make you that 8 tiered cake with hundreds of frosted ruffles, tailors, bridal shops with blowout sales, travel agents, travel advisers, cosmeticians, hairdressers, insurance companies, teas, popcorn, jewellery, limos and the list goes on. Want fireworks? Chances of finding someone who caters to that is extremely high.
Also almost every single one of these vendors has a draw for you to win some sort of package, so going to a wedding show you could be leaving with a bottle of wine or a free honeymoon you weren't sure you would be able to afford. Brides, please do yourself a favour and go to the wedding shows in your area.

So gather up your bridal party, your mom, fiance and whoever else you can think of and make a day of it. You never know what you could be missing. My favourite part always ends up being the fashion show, I'm pretty emotional so I usually cry. Do you have a family member or friend whom you didn't ask to be apart of the bridal party but whom you know would want to feel included non the less? Ask them to go to a bridal show with you and make them feel included. Not everyone will have all their friends as bridesmaids or maybe you have a younger sister who would just like to see what it is your up to with this whole wedding business. Make a fun day out of it for your Grandmother, sister, mother-in-law or friend. When you get engaged everyone and their dog will be shooting suggestions at you and offering their assistance, its okay to say 'no' but just remember that they are offering for a reason. Your important to them, they want to help and its okay to let them but on your terms.
Once again, Have fun and Happy Planning!
